Abstract: The development of video games presents unique challenges in task management, particularly due to the spatial nature of many tasks related to spatial domains such as level design and world-building. While sufficient for general software projects, traditional task management tools lack the ability to represent and manage tasks with explicit spatial context within a three-dimensional (3D) game environment. This paper explores spatial task management as a missing link in current workflows and introduces ZEER, a custom Unity tool that connects the Unity game engine with task databases created in Notion. ZEER enables the creation, visualization, navigation, and management of tasks directly within the 3D game environment, leveraging spatial metadata to reduce context-switching and enhance workflow clarity. The tool serves as a proof-of-concept for integrating spatial task management into development environments and contributes a replicable approach toward more intuitive and context-rich task management in game development.
