These wank**s have built a memorial to him. LET'S TAKE IT DOWN!

"Memorial Punch" is a game I created for the Semester Game Jam during the winter semester of 2024. Memorial Punch is an arcade destruction puncher. You dash through the world and punch crates, and walls, and statues. You collect coins and increase your punch score.

I wanted to challenge myself, so I decided to participate as a solo developer—and this game is the result! I'm really proud of what I achieved in such a short time. Punching objects and dashing around feels incredibly satisfying and is genuinely a lot of fun. Even though the level design isn't great (shame on me), the experience taught me (or reminded me of) an important lesson: changing the direction of the game on the last evening before submission is not a good idea. Lessons learned! Anyway: fun game, destroyed statues, great success. And getting back into game development with Unity was also a refreshing break from the research I focus on in my day job.

There's also something concrete to take away from this game jam: I built the project using the First Person Controller as a base and extended it with punching and enhanced movement abilities. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and I’m planning to update the First Person Controller package with these changes soon.
